apotex-donates-to-humber-river-hospital

Apotex Inc., a Canadian-owned pharmaceutical company, recently gave $10-million to the Emergency Department at the new Humber River Hospital.

The Emergency Department will be named after the donor company. Providing a range of emergency services, the department is expected to have more than 114,000 visits in its first year. The donation from Apotex will allow the hospital to expand access to state-of-the-art emergency care services.

"The new Humber River Hospital will transform health care in this community by providing patients with the right care, at the right time and in the right place," said Deb Matthews, Ontario's Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.

The new hospital will be North America's first fully digital hospital. It is expected to be open in the fall of 2015.
