Given all the current implications of hospital acquired infections (HAIs), preventing spread in our healthcare facilities remains an ever-important design consideration. This presentation provides an overview of the prevalence risk factors and impact of HAIs on the U.S healthcare system. It will also explore the role of the built environment in transmitting pathogens, including design strategies and innovations for the mitigation and prevention of HAIs.
